In February 2024, Mr. Paco Borao, President of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), visited and met with the Vietnam Athletics Federation in Hanoi. During this visit, Mr. Paco Borao signed a memorandum of cooperation to host the 24th AIMS World Congress in Vietnam in November 2024.

The Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) has officially confirmed Hanoi, Vietnam, as the venue for its 24th World Congress, with the Halong Bay Heritage Marathon being the signature race to wrap up the Congress.
